Technology Product and Platform Executive to Focus on Elevating Premier Entertainment and Gaming Destination as a Leading Home for Fans Globally
Will Look to Further Enhance Fandom’s Valuable Data and Insights to Help Industry Partners Maximize Impact in Connecting With Key Audiences
San Francisco, CA – February 4, 2026 – Fandom, the world’s largest fan platform, has appointed Jay Sullivan, former executive at Mozilla, Groupon, Facebook and Twitter, as Chief Executive Officer. Sullivan joins the company with over two decades of experience in helping build and launch technology products that have become an integral part of the culture and achieved mass scale. The announcement was made today by Fandom founder and Co-Chairman of the Board Jimmy Wales, and Fandom Co-Chairman of the Board Jon Miller.
Since 2004, Fandom has established itself as the number one destination for fans to immerse themselves in imagined worlds across entertainment, gaming and pop culture. Beyond its wiki platform that attracts 350 million unique visitors per month, Fandom is home to beloved media brands including GameSpot, Metacritic, TV Guide, and Fanatical.
As new platforms and technologies, including AI, continue to change how fans discover, consume, and engage with content, Fandom is uniquely positioned to play a larger role in the ecosystem by delivering powerful tools and custom solutions for fans, creators, and partners. Sullivan joins the company as it advances its mission to grow the world’s biggest fan communities across entertainment and gaming by expanding its platform and deepening engagement. With deep experience building products and platforms, Sullivan is focused on evolving Fandom into the definitive home for fan culture, while also strengthening it as a brand-safe, data-driven destination for marketers seeking meaningful connections with passionate fandom audiences.
Previously, Sullivan served as General Manager of Twitter’s consumer and revenue products, leading engineering, product, design, research and data science. Prior to Twitter, Sullivan was at Facebook, where he led the development of Reality Labs’ AI Assistant and then led the Privacy, Integrity, and Systems product teams for Messenger and Instagram Direct. At Groupon, he was Chief Product Officer, driving the evolution of the platform from a destination for daily deals to an always-on, two-sided marketplace. Sullivan was also the SVP of Product and then Chief Operating Officer and Interim CEO at Mozilla, where he led major releases of Firefox during its ascent and was an evangelist for the web platform and for giving people more choice and control online.
Jimmy Wales, Founder of Fandom, Co-Chairman of the Fandom board, and Founder of Wikipedia said, “Wiki technology makes it possible for 300 million fans monthly to pursue their pop culture interests on Fandom, and in the age of AI, those capabilities for fans to dive deep into what they love can be amplified in exciting ways. Jay Sullivan’s experience working on products with massive reach, and his understanding of the power of community, makes him the perfect leader to take Fandom into the future. I am looking forward to seeing how the platform continues to grow and thrive, and better serve the Fandom community, under his stewardship.”
Jon Miller, Co-Chairman of the Board for Fandom, said, “We see vast opportunity to evolve Fandom into an even richer experience for the fan community. Jay has the vision and will be deliberate and thoughtful about maintaining what fans love about the platform, while supercharging the experience for entertainment and gaming fans so that it becomes the prime destination for fan communities and the industry.”
Sullivan added, “I’ve always been drawn to building products that millions of people use every day – and that also serve as platforms others can build on. Across the entertainment and gaming industry, Fandom is uniquely positioned to operate at a massive scale as both the destination for fan communities and a platform for the industry to connect with those fans. I’m excited to work alongside the Fandom team, our community, and industry partners to continue building this ecosystem together.”
